‘Great health starts on our plate’ and the greatest gift we can give ourselves is to create an energetic and strong body that can carry us through our day and our life with the grace and love that support us in reaching all our dreams and goals. – Leslie O’Neill
The most powerful tool we have in controlling our health is our ability to have a good relationship with food. Food is our fuel and our source of energy for our bodies which is like our “kingdom”. The more thoughtful and mindful we are in taking care of our kingdom the better served in all areas of our lives.
Having a healthy relationship with food goes beyond counting calories and cutting sugar out of our diet. Anyone can go on a diet and has we know diets have a very low rate of success for most women. You lose a few pounds and then before you know you have gained them back and then some. Losing weight is not an indication of eating nourishing food and it is not a measurement of great health.
With the epidemic of chronic illness including obesity in our society we need to look beyond the obvious and look deep within ourselves, to trust our intuition and knowledge of what feels good to our bodies and to create a lifestyle that supports mindful and nourishing self-care. Where does our food come from, how are we preparing it and what happens to our bodies when we eat are the areas we will explore.
We will also examine our personal relationship with food and the habits we have created around food and how to make simple changes that will support a sustainable and rewarding lifestyle that will lead you towards living the life you have always dreamed of.
To identify in ourselves the habits and behaviors we hold onto that prevent us from being the Queens of our Kingdom.

My journey in the health, wellness and nutrition industry started in 1979 when I was 17 years old. My first job was in a small exercise studio where I would go with my girl friend to take aerobic classes. I loved the classes so much and I was there all the time so the owner offered me a job teaching and from there I pursued a certification as a personal trainer. I never really considered going into the health field when I was younger but from that time on my passion as been fitness and health. In the 1980’s and into the 1990’s there was a tremendous growth in the fitness industry and part of that included the diet industry. Every day a new diet and a new way to lose weight would be published, and on every newsstand, talk show , radio show and commercial you would be overloaded with theories on how to lose weight and lose it fast! I along with many others got tangled up into the dieting way of life and for me it became an obsession. I have been on every diet out there at least twice and I have spent a lot of money in doing so. I was practically a professional dieter.
I was obsessed with my weight, the size of my clothes and with working out to burn as many calories as I could. I thought I was doing all the right things to be healthy and fit and all my friends looked up to me because I was in such good shape. Well, I am here to tell you how wrong I was ! In my early 40’s when my hormones started changing I suddenly found myself gaining weight, losing my energy levels, sleeping poorly and no matter what diet I went on I got zero positive results. Sometimes I would even gain weight and boy was that horrible. I was addicted to sleeping pills which became a real problem in my family life, and the day that I got behind the wheel of my car after taking a sleeping pill by mistake was the day I knew I was on a path of destruction. How could someone who cared so much about her health get to such a horrible place. Well the good news is it is never too late to turn back and start over and that is exactly what I did.
At this point is when I started questioning all that I had been taught and told about dieting and what good health really meant and felt like. I went to see a holistic nutritionist and she sat me down and offered me an entirely new way to eat without dieting. This was the beginning of my journey towards a healthier lifestyle and my interest in a career in holistic nutrition.
I researched many schools and I was blessed to find The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “road map to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. Everyone can live the life they have always dreamed of! Our health and well being is in our control and proper nutrition for you body and your mind are not only the key to getting results but also in maintaining great health and vitality.
By studying holistic nutrition it has allowed me to learn and understand how we need to approach the whole person when looking to enhance our health. When working with my health coaching clients I introduce the concept of holistic health and living a lifestyle that not only feeds our bodies but also our minds and our spirits. The food we eat and the thoughts we think have a huge impact on our ability to handle ourselves , especially in the fast paced world we live in.
I love coaching my clients to a healthier lifestyle and I also love teaching them how to use food as source of healing for the body and the mind. I am a foodie and I 100% believe that what goes into our bodies can either heal us or harm us. I have seen first hand how easily the human body can be destroyed with years of abuse and a unhealthy lifestyle.
Our bodies and our minds are the vehicle that will transport us along our life journey, and it is our responsibility to take care of that vehicle like our life depends on it, because it DOES!
