In 1993 Dawn began formal training of mediation and eastern philosophy. Admittedly, at that time her practice was balanced with late nights and wild ways.

By 2000 Dawn picked up yoga asana, the physical poses. She trained with many teachers and systems of yoga but credit Sri Dharma Mittra, GoSwami Kriyananda and Nevine Michaan with breaking all limiting thought patterns that may have held about her own physical and spiritual being.

After attending Ball State University for neuropsychology and Coastal Carolina University pursuing both business and the arts she experienced a paradigm shift and entered the Kriya Yoga Seminary her senior year and was the youngest female to be ordained Swami in her linage.

She opened her first studio in 2007 with the initial funds donated by her students. It was in that space she fined tuned her art of teaching, communication and running a successful business. Taking only a few days off in the first 7 years and sometimes working a second job at night.

In 2015 Dawn opened Shanti South in Litchfield Beach and only 2 months later in 2016 relocated the original and opened Shanti Yoga Center adding an herbal apothecary and classroom structure for training and retreats as well as healing modalities.

While Dawn is structured with regards to her business model she is fluid and free form in her charity work. In 2011 Dawn co-opened an outreach shelter in Michigan for emergencies relating to abuse or disruption in housing primarily for women and children.
